Spinning Lessons
$25 per person, per day. I have 10+ years experience as a spinner and have given lessons at Pagosa Fiber Fest.
A Louet spinning wheel is available for your use, or bring your own. I will supply enough roving to get you started. You may buy more from my Wensleydale, mohair, or blended roving after that. Instruction
in picking, carding, and fiber blending is also available. I
am willing to work the timing of lessons around sightseeing, if that is part
of your goal. We can get together several times in one day or
spread lessons out over a couple of days, depending on how you want to do
things. There are shops in the area where you can purchase Louet, Ashford, and Schacht spinning wheels.
Felting Lessons
$25 per person, per day. I have lots of experience with both wet felting and needle felting. I teach classes in wet felting at the Durango Art Center and have had my felting work displayed and for sale at Sidewalk Days as well as juried into the Wyndham Arts and Crafts festival in Pagosa Springs. Along with lessons I sell needle felting supplies in my studio here at the ranch., and there are many watercolor felts available.
Knitting Lessons
$25 per person. Basics, Sock Knitting, Fair Isle, reading and using patterns, cables, short rows, or whatever you need to get the projects you choose going. I have lots of books for browsing, handspun yarn for sale, and there are very good yarn shops nearby. You may also want to bring an existing project and just knit, lessons or not! The choice is up to you. This is an ideal setting for relaxing and rejuvenating your spirit. There are always some skeins of handspun and Swallow needles made from milk protein for sale at the ranch, as well as some knitted items.
